Nrithyalavanyam school of dance specializes in imparting a blend of Pandanallur style of Bharathanatyam as a base for perfecting adavus and Vazhuvoor style at a senior level. Located at Claymont, Delaware, the school envisions creating an undeterred interest among students of all ages by providing an encouraging and vibrant atmosphere not only to pursue the great art but also serve as a cultural hub. Anybody can learn at any age and enjoy the benefits of Bharatanatyam both for the physic and psyche.
The guru, Ms. Lavanya Shivram, hailing from Madurai, Tamil Nadu started learning at the tender age of 3 from Ms. Subalakshmi and gave her first performance at the age of 6. Under the coaching of eminent teacher Iyal Isai Natyaselvar Thiru T.G.Jeyaraman, she had her arangetram at the age of 12 in Watrap temple witnessed by thousands of people. She perfected her dance under the able gurus Dr. Kalarani Ramachandran and Dr. Bala Nandakumar that gave her many opportunities to perform in and around Madurai. Her passion towards the sacred art won her many laurels including a write up in Mangai magazine as one of the 6 gems of Fatima College, Madurai.
